You own your work
Copyright stays with you. Always.
We get a limited license
Only to host and monetize on Novelosity.
Plagiarism = ban
Zero tolerance. Immediate and permanent.
Authors retain full and exclusive copyright ownership of all original works published on Novelosity. Novelosity does not claim any ownership over the intellectual property of its authors. Your story is yours — always.
By publishing on Novelosity, you grant Novelosity a limited, non-transferable, revocable license to host, display, distribute, and monetize your content within the scope of your selected contract type (Exclusive or Non-Exclusive). This license does not transfer copyright ownership to Novelosity.
An Exclusive contract means the specific novel (not the author's entire catalog) is licensed exclusively to Novelosity for the duration of the contract. The author agrees not to publish that specific work on any other digital platform, app, or website during this period.
Exclusive authors receive 70% of all gross revenue generated by their novel on the platform, including coin unlocks, ad revenue share, and reader tips. Novelosity retains 30% to cover platform operations, hosting, editorial services, and marketing.
Exclusive contracts run for a minimum of 12 months. After the initial period, either party may terminate with 30 days written notice. Upon termination, the work reverts fully to the author with no platform claim remaining.
Exclusive authors receive: gold EXCLUSIVE badge on their novel cover, priority placement on the homepage and in editorial picks, dedicated author success manager, monthly consistency bonuses ($50–$500 based on chapter output), and early access to new platform features.
A Non-Exclusive contract grants Novelosity the right to host and monetize your novel on its platform while allowing you to simultaneously publish the same work on other platforms. There is no exclusivity restriction on the work.
Non-Exclusive authors receive 50% of all gross revenue generated by their novel on Novelosity, including coin unlocks and ad revenue share. Reader tips remain 100% with the author regardless of contract type.
Authors on a Non-Exclusive contract may upgrade to an Exclusive contract at any time by requesting the change through the author dashboard or by contacting the editorial team at editorial@novelosity.com.
Novelosity implements technical protection measures on all published content, including: text selection prevention, right-click disabling on reader pages, keyboard shortcut blocking for print and screenshot functions, and CSS print lockout. These measures help deter unauthorized copying of published chapters.
All chapter content displayed in the reader is overlaid with a transparent, persistent watermark containing the reader's username and the Novelosity domain. This watermark is designed to appear in any screenshots taken of the content, serving as a deterrent and as evidence of the source in case of infringement.
While Novelosity applies best-effort technical protections, no web-based content protection is absolute. Authors acknowledge that determined actors may find ways to circumvent these measures. Novelosity is not liable for unauthorized copies made through means outside its reasonable technical control.
Novelosity has a strict zero-tolerance policy for copyright infringement. Any novel found to be plagiarized, copied without authorization, or translated without rights will be immediately removed from the platform, and the author's account will be permanently suspended.
If you believe your copyrighted work has been published on Novelosity without your authorization, please submit a DMCA takedown notice to: contact@novelosity.com with the subject line "DMCA Takedown Request". Include your name, contact information, a description of the original work, the URL of the infringing content, and a statement of good faith belief that the use is unauthorized.
Authors who receive a takedown notice may submit a counter-notification if they believe the removal was a mistake. Counter-notifications must include a statement under penalty of perjury that the material was removed by mistake or misidentification. Novelosity will process all DMCA notices in accordance with applicable law within 10 business days.
Novelosity maintains a repeat infringer policy. Accounts that receive two or more valid DMCA takedown notices will be permanently suspended from the platform and may be subject to legal action.
All novels submitted to Novelosity must be original works created by the submitting author. Translations, fan fiction, or adaptations must be clearly labeled as such and must not infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights.
Novelosity reserves the right to use automated plagiarism detection tools to verify the originality of submitted works prior to and after publication. Authors consent to this verification by submitting their work.
By publishing on Novelosity, authors warrant that: (a) the work is their own original creation; (b) they have the full right to grant the license described in this agreement; (c) the work does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party; and (d) the work complies with all applicable laws.
